Bonnie Sue Bawinkel
September 10, 1962 — September 27, 2022
Bonnie Sue Bawinkel, 60, of Freeport, IL departed this life on Tuesday September 27, 2022, at OSF Saint Anthony's Hospital surrounded by her family. Bonnie was born September 10, 1962, in Freeport, IL. The daughter of Darline Torine and the late Robert Wright. Bonnie graduated from Freeport High School in 1980. Proceeding High School, Bonnie attended Cosmetology School at Highland Community College. Bonnie married Alan Bawinkel on May 15, 1982, at Faith United Methodist Church. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School while her boys were young. She provided daycare in her home for families throughout the community for many years. She was most recently employed at Newell Brands. Bonnie had many interests and hobbies which included the Freeport Garden Club, being active with the Harlem Helpers 4H Club, her at home hair salon, and her talent with crafting. Above all, her greatest passion was spending time with her Grandbabies. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Alan Bawinkel; her two children, Daniel (Angela) Bawinkel, and Jimmy (Amanda) Bawinkel. Her Grandbabies Bentley (11), Laney (9), Gunnar (8), Shiloh (6), and Chance (1). Also survived by her parents, Larry and Darlene Torine; her sister, Sally (Tracy) Prouty; her brother, Bob Wright; her brother in laws, Gary (Leigh) Bawinkel, and Steve (Pam) Greenfield; and her nieces and nephews who she loved and cherished. Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Wright, and her in laws Russell and Norma Bawinkel. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 8, 2022, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1440 S. Walnut Ave. Freeport, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at the Cedarville Fire Station, 220 W. Oak Street in Cedarville IL. Bonnie's heart of gold was a light in many people's lives and will never be forgotten.
