Patricia A. Kuker, 79, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, after being life-flighted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, due to an illness.
A service honoring Patricia's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Deacon Dan Carney presiding. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Patricia is survived by her children, Pam (Don) Gerdes, Fort Dodge; Mike Kuker, 11 grandchildren, Chad (Tammy), Ryan (Mindy), Angie, Ashley, Lacey (Matt), Bobbi, Danyel, Christopher (Tabitha), Stephanie, Nicole and Bruce; 24 great-grandchildren; her sister Joanna Holt (Jack) Mishler; her brother-in-law Cecil Julius and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Glen Gangestad, her husband LeRoy, her son Randy, her step-father Robert Golden and her wonderfully caring companion Ralph Armstrong, who was her second love.
She was born Patricia Ann Gangestad on March 16, 1933, to Myrtle Sylvia Rongved, of Bode, and Glen Emil Gangestad, of Bradgate and Gilmore City. She attended Hawley Grade School in Fort Dodge, and Fort Dodge Junior High and Senior High School. Pat was married to LeRoy Kuker, who farmed in Carroll, Iowa. They lived in California briefly, and then moved back to Fort Dodge where she has resided since then.
Pat was an avid homemaker, seamstress, cook, and she loved to crochet. She searched for other areas to prove her many talents such as manager of Western Gas Station, Assistant Manager of Tom Peters Realty and Brooks Clothing Store and designer and seamstress for her sister's theatre wardrobe and even joined the karaoke circuit later in life. She was a devoted friend to many and jovial host for many holiday dinners with her sister and family from Cedar Rapids and St. Louis, as their families grew up together leaving many Norwegian memories for all. |
