Claude Nelson, 71 , Belgrade June 20, 1929-Sept. 28, 2000 Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church for Claude E. Nelson, 71, who died Thursday at St. Cloud Hospital.
Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home, Belgrade. Claude Nelson was born in Rosholt S.D., to Nencel and Elizabeth (Matteson) Nelson. He was in the U.S.
Army from May 1951 to December 1952 and was a vet eran of the Korean War. He was in the National Guard following the war until November 1954. He married Joanne Glauvitz on Dec. 25, 1954, in Belgrade. The couple lived in Fairmont for a short time before returning to Belgrade in 1955.
He worked for the Department of Natural Resources for 37 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and New London American Legion Post 537. Survivors include his wife; children, Elizabeth Bean of Stillwater, and Linda Ampe of Savage; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Howard of New Effington, S.D., Russell of Brookings, Ore., Harvey of Oakdale, Ellen Wold of Belgrade, and Cleone Gable of New London. He was preceded in death by his brother, Delmar. |
